Journeys Of Necessity

Welcome to the Discipleship Minute. I’m Maurice Smith. John 4:4 says that it was necessary for Jesus to pass through Samaria. For Jesus, this journey wasn’t about geography, but doing what was necessary for the Kingdom and the disciples. Jesus needed to challenge His disciples with a vision for the spiritual need and harvest beyond the limited confines of Judaism. They needed to get out of their religious box, and to see the lost and the marginalized through Jesus’ eyes. In the Kingdom of God, some discipleship lessons simply cannot be taught. They must be caught, during personal journeys of necessity through Samaria. Learn more about journeys of necessity in our book, And They Dreamt Of A Kingdom: Biblical Studies In Discipleship And The Kingdom of God. You’ll find it on our website at risingrivermedia.org; that’s risingrivermedia.org.
